Our group encourages participation in our project through a variety of events. Join us for trail building activities, ladies days or come out and hike the trail as part of a group. If you'd like to add an activity, please contribute!


Fitzpatrick Mountain Trail Maintenance Work Day, 9:30-2:00: Saturday, May 18, 2013
Location: Tower Road near wind turbines, off Irving Young Road, Millsville, Pictou County

Organizers: Fran and Phil Wyman, fran.wyman@gmail.com or phone, 902-924-2910. Hike the trail from the turbines to Millsville (4 kms), or turbines to Scotsburn (4 kms) clear blow downs from the winter, pull out raspberry bushes (gloves needed), lop branches that obstruct the trail to six-feet wide trail, move rocks into wet spots and add signage where needed. Tools will be available at the meeting place, but garden claw tools will come in handy. Carry water, a snack and lunch, insect repellent, sun screen and dress for the weather.

Directions to Millsville from Exit 19 on Highway 104: From Exit 19 travel East on Highway 4 (towards New Glasgow). After travelling about 5 km East on Highway 4, turn left onto Highway 376 towards Pictou.

Directions to Millsville from Exit 20 on Highway 104: From exit 20, travel West on Highway 4 (towards Truro). At Central West River, turn right onto Highway 376 towards Pictou.

 Travel about 5 km on Highway 376 to the centre of Durham village where there is a paved road between Durham and Scotsburn called the Durham Road. From Highway 376 in Durham, turn left onto the Durham Road towards Scotsburn. Travel to the intersection with the Millsville Road, and turn left to drive to the Irving Young Road. Turn right, with another right onto the Tower Road. Drive until you see the turbines.
