Imagine a scenic footpath winding its way through shaded forests, over much of the highest
ground in mainland Nova Scotia, across babbling brooks and opening frequently to reveal breathtaking
vistas of rolling hills, the sea coast and peaceful farmland settings.

Now further imagine that this footpath travels over 400 kilometers, all the way from Cape Chignecto
in Cumberland County to Cape George in Antigonish County.
This is the vision of the
Cape to Cape Trail, Nova Scotia’s first long distance footpath.

Through the next few months, there will be continued explores for the Historic
Trail between Belmont and Tatamagouche going on. This may become part of the
Trans Canada Trail. CE-TS has many journals and early maps for the 1700's that
went along an old trail in those areas and therefore know of many who walked
this trail in the very old times. If you are interested to participate in these
explores contact Garnet McLaughlin.
During
weekdays, beginning this next week, at yours and other's convenience, there will
be trail definition work on the 6 trails in Earltown and Kemptown. Though the
trails seem to be in good shape, when June thicker vegetative growth comes in,
some spots on the ground will be hidden or waylaid by the evergreen wood fern,
bracken fern, raspberries, etc. Using light tools, we will be having trail
definitions builds to correct that situation. Let us know if you can come out
during some week day and we can make a group of it: Contact:
